Introduction :
Samsung launched its Highly anticipated Current Year's Flagship Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ on Sunday, 25 March during a Press Conference in MWC 2018, Barcelona, Spain. The smartphones, though quite similar in physical design, with no major overhaul, but still packs in interesting and top level specs that everyone expects from a flagship device. Besides, there are also some interesting upgrades in specifications also, such as in Camera department, and other internal specs. Apart from that, there is also upgradation in security features.
Talking about the security features, there is a new 'technological term' that might be quite new for some people or for many. That's the "Intelligent Scan".
Let's get clear about "Intelligent Scan"

What is Actually The "Intelligent Scan" Technology?
"Intelligent Scan" is a new term in Security Features by Samsung, which is basically a combination of Face Unlock Technology & Iris Scanning Technology.
Yes, it still uses the same 2-Dimensional Face Recognition Technology and the Iris Scanning Technology that has been introduced by Samsung itself, in the previously launched Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy S8 & S8+.

How It Actually Works?
Intelligent Scan basically comprises both 2D Face Recognition Technology and Iris Recognition Technology. With the Intelligent Scan Technology, the smartphone first scans for your face, then it will check for your irises. If both the Face Recognition and Iris Scanning fails, then it will combine both the technology to unlock the device, i.e. both the Face Recognition Technology and Iris Scanning Technology will be used then. And yes, it all works rapid fast but now that much secure than before. *See next part for more details.

Does It Means More Security?
According to Reports, though the combination of two unlocking technology is used in Galaxy S9 and S9+, it is definitely fast but not secure. That means, not much secure than previous years S8 & S8+. According to Samsung, Intelligent Scan uses the “collective strength of iris scanning and facial recognition technology” to unlock the device, but it is not yet available for Samsung Pay Authentication purposes.
In contrast to Apple's Face ID, Samsung current flagships are still far behind as Apple's Face ID essentially uses the TrueDepth front-facing camera system on the iPhone X to analyse over 30,000 “invisible dots” to create a 3D-image of a face. Apple claims FaceID is so accurate on the iPhone X that it can’t be fooled, even with a mask. With these, it's clear that in terms of security, Apple's iPhone X is quite secure in terms of Face Recognition Technology. But to be Clear, it's not like that Samsung, S9 and S9+ is not secure, or something like that, it's aslo quite secured in terms of security or Intelligent Scan Technology, but not like the Apple's iPhone X's one. Both the smartphones, be it Apple iPhone X or Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, are quite powerful, secure and cool flagship devices that one can buy, if planning to buy a new flagship device from Apple or Samsung.
